Slide 1: Mesothelium 间皮 Surface view, simple squamous epithelium. Note contacts of cells. Nuclei are not stained.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 2: Kidney (Glomerulus) 肾脏(肾小球) Simple squamous epithelium (arrow) lines the glomerulus. This is an H & E section and nuclei are blue.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 3: Thyroid Gland 甲状腺 The layered spaces are the lumens of follicles whose walls are composed of simple cuboidal epithelium.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 4: Collecting Duct (Kidney) 集合管(肾) Simple cuboidal epithelium is found in several structures in the kidney, including the collecting duct.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 5: Gall Bladder 胆囊 Simple columnar epithelium lines the gall bladder. Note the underlying connective tissue with blood vessels.
Bar = 100 Microns.
Slide 6: Uterine Gland 子宫腺 Simple columnar epithelium forms the glands which are surrounded by connective tissue.
Bar = 100 Microns.
Slide 7: Male Urethra 男性尿道 A pseudostratified columnar epithelium lines most of the penile urethra.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 8: Trachea 气管 The pseudostratified columnar epithelium of the trachea is ciliated and has goblet cells.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 9: Urinary Bladder 膀胱 The expandible stratified epithelium of the bladder is referred to as transitional epithelium. Note that its surface cells are large rather than flattened as in stratified squamous epithelium.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 10: Urinary Bladder膀胱 Surface cells of the bladder are sometimes binucleate (black arrow). Note the presence of occasional lymphocytes (blue arrows) in both connective tissue and epithelium.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 11: Lip 唇 Stratified squamous keratinizing epithelium covers the lip. Note the thin flat shape of surface cells. The keratin layer is very thin, and is not visible on this section.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 12: Vagina 阴道 Stratified squamous non-keratinizing epithelium lines the vagina. Note that the surface is to the upper right and that the underlying connective tissue is not visible in this field.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 13: Vagina 阴道 Note that the connective tissue underlying the epithelium (lightly stained area in middle) extends into the epithelium as "peg-like" structures.
Bar = 250 Microns.
Slide 14: Thin Skin 薄皮 The stratified squamous (keratinized) epithelium of thin skin has thin layers of keratin on the upper surface. Note that the epithelium rests on connective tissue below (light pink).
Bar = 100 Microns.
Slide 15: Thick Skin 厚皮 The stratified squamous (keratinized) epithelium of thick skin has a very thick layer above compared to thin skin. A pink (eosinophilic layer) called the stratum lucidum lies between the epithelium proper and the keratin layer (stratum corneum).
Bar = 250 Microns.
Slide 16: Sweat Duct 汗腺导管 Stratified cuboidal epithelium lines the ducts of sweat glands.
Bar = 50 Microns.
Slide 17: Sweat Duct 汗腺导管 Cross-sectional view through a duct of a sweat gland illustrating stratified cuboidal epithelium.
Bar = 30 Microns.
